2012 in a Nutshell

2012 has been such a quick year, although I’m sure we say that every year! It feels to me like January last year was such a long time ago, even though the year flew by. There is so much I could say about the past year but instead, I thought I would share a few of my favourite moments in photos.

Enjoy!

The Old Biscuit Mill, Cape Town 2012

In October this year, my friend/to be sister in law Merida and I were lucky enough to take a little trip to Cape Town to visit my sisters. We decided to make the most out of the few days we had there, so we packed as many nice outfits as we could get into our bags (including a few too many pairs of heels!) and we decided that we were going to make a photo journal of our whole trip. This meant that the two of us as well as my sisters had to have a camera on hand at ALL times (thank you to my sister Kristen for the countless photoshoots). We took over 500 photo's so this one is going to be seperated into events. The first being The Old Biscuit Mill. I have blogged about this before, when I visited Cape Town almost a year ago, and after going to the Mill the first time I was hooked. It is the perfect place to go for a nice breakfast or treat on a saturday, or if you just want to browse the stalls or gain a bit of insperation. Merida and I decided that anything we thought looked delicious, we were going to buy:; which obviously led to us feeling sick from all the sweets! It turned out to be a great day and we had such a great time testing all the nice things and eating up a storm. Here are some of the photo's we took.

Enjoy!

Could You Be An Entrepreneur?

What is an entrepreneur? An entrepreneur is someone who starts his or her own business. Some people know what they want to start their own businesses in 1st grade with a lemonade stand. Other people don’t want to have to leave the security of a paycheck and benefits. Ultimately, everyone is different and being an entrepreneur isn’t right for everyone. But, it could be right for you.

I never, ever, ever thought I had what it took to be an entrepreneur, until I took this quiz and started taking business classes. As I answered the questions in this quiz I was like, wow, I actually could do this! Then, I took a few classes on how to start a business and I just started falling into business ventures that I love! I started to let myself come up with the ideas and started taking action on them. It never crossed my mind that I might actually have the personality type to be an entrepreneur. So even if you don’t think you ever will be starting your own business, take the below quiz. You never know what you might find out!

Remember that there is no right or wrong answer. Not everyone should be an entrepreneur. Make sure you are honest with yourself when you take the quiz. Answer yes or no to the following questions:

1) Is it important to me to accomplish something meaningful with my life?
2) Do I typically set both short and long term goals? Do I usually meet those goals?
3) Am I self-disciplined?
4) Do I have the work experience in the type of business I wish to start?
5) Am I willing to work hard to acquire new skills?
6) Do I usually stick with a project until it is completed?
7) Do I like to be in control of my work environment?
8) Do I enjoy working on your own?
9) Do I take full responsibility for my successes and failures?
10) Can I afford to lose the money I invest in my business or do I have a savings in place to start my new business?

Total up your yes’s and give yourself 1 point for each yes answer. You should have a high score if you are to be a successful business owner. While it is not necessary to answer yes to all of these questions to be successful, if you answer no to some of them you will want to evaluate what that means to you and how significantly it may impact your ability to run your own business.

BiBi Rouge by Sabrina Kennedy official photo shoot

A few months ago my big sister Susana gave me the gift of my first photo shoot for my fashion line BiBi Rouge by Sabrina Kennedy. We had been wanting to do a photo shoot of the three sisters for a while so she thought why not do one, but use it as an opportunity to get some nice photos for my line at the same time. The shoot was on the top floor of the ABSA building in Cape Town, in Club 31 (thanks DJ Sox and Pierre for making that happen). The view was absolutely amazing and the club looked exactly like the image that I had in mind. We did the shoot in the early evening to try get a bit of the sunset but still the night vibe in the club. The shoot was so much fun. We had the whole club to ourselves, prancing around in our dresses with glasses of bubbly and loud music. The night was just so amazing, I couldn’t have asked for a better first photo shoot for my line.

These are some of the photos from the night. We didn’t have enough time tp do all my dresses but squeezed a good amount in. For more photos of the clothing you can check out my website or the BiBi Rouge by Sabrina Kennedy Facebook page.

I want to thank my sister Susana for organising it all and making it happen, and for the amazing gift that it was. I also want to thank my sister Kristen for doing the shoot with us, and of course Justin Munitz for taking such amazing photos.

Enjoy!
