In Botswana!

I’ve been in Maun, Botswana for a few days now and only just got internet! It is always boiling here, between 30 and 40 degrees c. The lifestyle here is so different! And the cultures are so diverse! It always seems like it’s a weekend here, because there is the same amount of people everywhere no matter what day, and there is never any traffic! The Maun Airport seems to be the centre of everything here, and the biggest building. Everything revolves around the airport.

The town is very much like a small, neat township. In the whole of Maun, there are only two traffic circles that regulate traffic, no robots, nothing! Everything is dusty, and everywhere you look there are little tin shacks. The shacks have little fences around them, which mark each person’s property, and inside each property there is usually a dog, some goats, a donkey, or maybe a cow or two. At night all the goats go to their respective home and wait for the owner to close the gate behind them. I think it’s amazing that the animals know which house is theirs and what time they should go home! Something else i saw which i thought was amazing was that often if a family has a dog, the dog will follow the mom and the children everywhere, as if it’s protecting them. A few days ago I saw a dog following its owner into a clothing store, and walk up and down the rows with her while she shopped!

I haven’t been able to upload any pictures yet, but i will ASAP, so that you can see what I’m talking about.

Its New Year’s Eve today, which means that it is the last day that we have of this year. So if there is anything you want to fix, fix it now. If there is anything you wanted to do in 2010, now is your last chance! This has been a crazy year, I think for everyone, and I hope that next year, with the craziness that comes with each year, we all make do with what we have, and realise that as each year passes, we have the opportunity for a clean start. A time that we can reassess our options and situation, and decide how we want to perceive them. Make the best of what you have, understand that you have it for a reason, and see forward, past what each thing means to you now, but rather what it might mean to you in the future. No matter where your path leads, trust that you will have the power to walk it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Leaving, on a jet plane!

After a long 2 days of Christmas, it is time to leave for Botswana. I’m very excited because now that I am blogging, I can share all the different things that I see in Maun. I also have a reason to never let go of my camera! Maun, Botswana, is a small town with not much in it, which makes it easier to get creative because you don’t really have much else to do! The culture there is so extremely different to what I am used it. It’s fascinating! To watch the way in which such diverse people live, really gives you a broader outlook of how we live, which enables us to understand it a bit better, and most of all what I find, to appreciate what we have. The people in Maun are not well off, but they are so happy with what they have, and they take care of it as if it were as good as gold! It’s amazing to see how grateful a person can be for things that we take for granted everyday.

Anyway, more on that when I’m there! I hope that everyone has a lovely rest of 2010 and makes the most of it while we still can!

Merry Christmas!!

"If you are thinking a year ahead, sow a seed. If you are thinking ten years ahead, plant a tree. If you are thinking one hundred years ahead, educate the people." —Chinese Proverb

Merry Christmas everyone! It has been a crazy year! For work, university, love, and pretty much everything else! I just hope that everyone can take something from this past year, and use it to improve the year ahead.

I really believe that what you make of things, they will become, so if you want a better year ahead, then think back at what you need to change, think forward of what it would take to make it a better year, and consciously apply those things to your year ahead, and that is how you will make it one to remember. If we do this every year, we can improve on our experiences and be conscious of it. If you sit around and wait for your year to be better than the last, chances are, you will be disappointed. So make an effort this time! And if you have consciously done this before, then keep doing it, so that each year can be better than the last, proving that happiness does come with time.

I hope that the year ahead is amazing for everyone, and that the reason it is amazing, is because you chose it to be that way!

”Your dreams have the power to turn mediocrity into magnificence!”

This year, allow yourself the opportunity to DREAM!

Christmas shopping discoveries!

Today when finishing off my christmas shopping, I decided to walk into rain, a shop in which you can make your own bath salts, bubble bath, and many other fun bath treats! I often walk past it and it always smells delicious, but today I went in, and I loved it! It is so affordable, and the products smell great! You choose your oil scent, texture and what you want it to do for your body, and you come out with a beautiful product for yourself or a friend! The decor is amazing in the most beautiful earth tone colours! I was so impressed by it, i had to share it!

If you are looking for a gift or treat, stop by, you wont be disappointed!

My first blog!

So, I’m new at this blogging stuff, but I think it could be fun! So often I find amazing fashion items and cool things, but never get to share them! This way I can feel like my discoveries are worthwhile! I’m new at this, so things will go slow!

I’m leaving for Botswana in a few days to visit my boyfriend, which means that I won’t be around much fashion, but I will be around a lot of different cultures and beautiful scenery! So hopefully I will be able to add a few things of meaning from Maun!

If you’re reading this, enjoy the rest of your week, and have a Merry Christmas!
