A little less sugar, a little more health

We are now roughly on day 9 of our no sugar, no bread challenge and its been great so far! The biggest change for me has been that I used to eat toast every morning, which I now had to replace. So my first option was full cream Greek yogurt with honey (no sugar, no flavoring, no sweetener) But I found that it wasn't keeping me full for long enough, so I decided to add some muesli to it to bulk up my breakfast. As you might know, almost all muesli's have tons of sugar in, and the ones that dont, have sweetener (which is recommended to stay away from during this challenge). I know my mom makes her own muesli, and its never looked very difficult, so I got Googling and realized there are plenty of sugar free recipes to choose from, and that you can really roast any nuts and grains together to make a delicious muesli. I have posted one of the ones I liked below, but you can change it up and add more nuts or fruit or anything really!

Enjoy!

MAKE YOUR OWN: PLASTIC-FREE, SUGAR-FREE MUESLI

Ingredients:

3 cups coconut flakes
2 cups oats
1/2 cup brazil nuts
1/2 cup peanuts
1/2 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
80ml macadamia oil (or other high quality, flavourless oil- I use coconut oil)

Method:

[I soak my almonds and pumpkin seeds overnight to activate them and make them more digestible, and then dry them out before chopping and adding to the mix. If you can’t be bothered with this step or are short of time, just skip it.]

Roughly chop the brazil nuts, peanuts and almonds. Combine in a bowl with the coconut flakes and oats. Stir in the oil and mix well until everything is well coated.

Line a baking tray with baking paper. Spread the mixture evenly over the paper and bake at 100ÂșC for 30 minutes, until golden. Leave to cool.

Store in a glass jar. It will keep for a few weeks, but I think it is better to make small batches and more often to keep it fresh.

Enjoy!

Tips for Summer Work wear

As the temperature rises, it is important to update your office attire not only to suit the weather, but the working environment. Although different companies and working environments call for different styles, we're here to give you some simple tips on how dress for work this summer:

1. DO Wear lighter colours and fabrics to achieve a more relaxed and light look this summer

2. DON'T wear shorts to the office.

Experts say shorts look too laid back and unprofessional for the office. We love this look, but lets keep those for the weekend

3. DO wear summer dresses.

We love summer dresses for work, and they allow you to feel cool and fresh. Pick your work summer dress wisely by opting for a more structured or plain summer dress. Nothing too beachy please

4. DO keep patterns to a minimum.

We love a floral summer look, but for the office, be fussy with your patterns. Try keep the colours more neutral or stick to a more conservative shaped dress so that it is less overwhelming.

5. DO bare a bit of skin.

In most work places, sleeveless is acceptable, but try and stay away from spaghetti or thin straps that can look too casual and show too much chest.

6. DO love the longer length.

Want to wear an open neck line, compensate with a longer length to class it up. This is also great for the figure conscious ladies as it flatters and shapes your waist and hips. Just remember, if you have a bigger bust, pair this look with a light jacket.

7. DO wear your work shirts..

but change it up! We love the work shirt and casual pants look. This is great for summer as its slightly more casual but still professional and clean. Pair this with some heels for the perfect corporate look.

8. DO'NT wear slip slops!

Keep them for the weekend ladies, no one likes slip slops in the work place! Rather heel it up! It always transforms an outfit and makes it work ready

Here are a few items every Women needs for her corporate wardrobe

So remember, it's good to dress cool and fresh, but don't go too casual or bright and you will have your summer work wear down.

Wrap It Up

I had to wrap a gift recently and decided to get a bit creative. I normally put gifts in bags with different colour tissue paper and ribbon but this was for a special friend and i was feeling creative so i decided to use one of my many gift boxes.
I then added a piece of yellow tissue paper and the gift.
I then folded the tissue paper over the gift and closed the lid. Then I cut three pieces of three colours of ribbon to match the box and tied them in 2 bunches over the box.
Then I tied two pieces of ribbon in a bow and then folded a few of the other pieces over to make circles over the centre. My last touch was to add the 21st key and a cute birthday card, and it was done!
This was lots of fun for me to do, it looked great, and it took me 5 minutes to do. It was also SO affordable! The box cost me R10 (about $0.70c), the tissue paper cost me R0.50c (less than $0.05c) for the sheet (which I only used half of) and R15 (About $2) for the three rolls of ribbon, which can be used again and again. All it is about is looking around for the materials and keeping them aside for one day. Most of my pieces came from sales that i found years ago! That way you have the right tools when you need it. I hope this inspires you to give beautiful gifts, inside and out! Enjoy! xxx
